Fascinated: Fibres and colors
Do you have a favorite color? I don't. Whether red, purple, green or gray, they are all beautiful to me. Every color can look so different: on different material, a texture or in combination with other shades. The best birthday present for me as a child was the day I was finally allowed to put together my own outfit every morning. Since then I haven't stopped experimenting with colors and shapes and their interplay. I follow fashion design and trends all the time. Interest in other cultures and my foreign language studies opened the world to me. Many trips to my favorite country India and to other distant countries have taught me how wonderful some, for the Central European eye maybe unusual, color combinations can work.
I have been knitting and crocheting, lace-making and weaving for so long that I don't really know when I started. Surely in elementary school. Knitting and crocheting is still my favorite, because you are not tied to a fixed place and do not need a device.
And when in 2009 I was looking for something of my own, I made the love or mania for fibers and colors to my profession! That's how LANAMANIA was born.
In our second home country New Zealand I found the brushtail possum fiber. Velvety soft and fluffy and in the combination with Merino or other natural fibers nevertheless very durable and long lasting and made for daily use. The dark hair, which we do not bleach, creates a heathery colorfulness all on its own. Only the commercially available, classic, not to say conservative designs and colors of sweaters and cardigans were sooo not to my taste. So I started to look for a hand knitting yarn and found it at Zealana. Et Voila! Since then, we have been the exclusive distributor for NZ brushtail possum yarns throughout Europe.
Lanamania's portfolio is successively supplemented by special, high-quality yarns of our own with other carfully selected partners in the wool industry. The main focus is on 100% natural raw materials and an ecological and sustainable production. I am always on the lookout for something special.

Faszinierend: Farben und Fasern
Hast Du eine Lieblingsfarbe? Ich nicht. Ob Rot, Lila, Grün oder Grau, schön sind sie alle. Jede Farbe kann so verschieden wirken: durch das Material, die Struktur oder im Zusammenspiel mit anderen Tönen. Das beste Geburtstagsgeschenk als Kind war für mich der Tag, ab dem ich endlich mein Outfit jeden Morgen selbst zusammenstellen durfte. Seitdem habe ich nicht aufgehört, mit Farben und Formen und deren Zusammenspiel zu experimentieren. Modedesign und -trends verfolge ich ständig. Interesse an anderen Kulturen und mein Fremdsprachenstudium öffneten mir die Welt. Viele Reisen in mein Lieblingsland Indien und in andere ferne Länder haben mich gelehrt, wie wunderbar manche für das mitteleuropäische Auge doch ungewöhnliche Farbkombinationen wirken können.
Stricken und Häkeln, Klöppeln und Weben kann ich schon so lange, das ich gar nicht mehr so richtig weiß, wann ich damit angefangen habe. Sicher in der Grundschule. Stricken und Häkeln ist mir bis heute am Liebsten, da man nicht an einen festen Ort gebunden ist.
Und als 2009 ich auf der Suche nach etwas Eigenem war, da machte ich die Liebe oder Manie zu Fasern und Farben zum Beruf(ung)! So entstand die LANAMANIA.
In unserer zweiten Heimat Neuseeland fand ich die Fuchskusu Faser. Samtweich und flauschig und in der Blendung mit Merino oder anderen Fasern trotzdem langlebig und für den täglichen Gebrauch geschaffen. Durch das dunkle Haar, das nicht gebleicht wird, entsteht eine ganz eigene Farbigkeit. Nur die im Handel erhältlichen, klassischen, um nicht zu sagen, konservativen Designs und Farben der Pullis und Jacken entsprachen so gar nicht meinem Geschmack. Also suchte ich nach einem Handstrickgarn und wurde bei Zealana fündig. Et Voila! Seitdem sind wir der Exklusivdistributor für Fuchskusu Garne in ganz Europa.
Das Portfolio von Lanamania wird sukzessive durch besondere, hochwertige eigene Garne mit anderen ausgewählten Partnern ergänzt. Hauptaugenmerk liegt hier auf 100% natürlichen Rohstoffen und nachhaltiger Produktion. Immer bin ich auf der Suche nach dem Besonderen.
