Ja, das ist die Pearl. Du hast ja sicher davon schon gehört oder unsere Designs damit gesehen. Eins meiner vielen Lieblingsgarne. Vegan, einzigartig, gibt es weltweit nur bei uns und unseren Partnern.

Aber wie sind wir dazu gekommen? Wo kommt sie her, die Pearl?

Die Idee entstand vor fast 10 Jahren. Die Vogue Knitting, unser Marketing Partner in den USA, und meiner Meinung nach eins der coolsten Strickhefte weltweit, hatte ihr Perlen-Jubiläum. Wann ist denn das? 30 Jahre nach Gründung (oder Hochzeit:-)... Wir waren als Diamond Sponsor auf der New Yorker Jubiläumsveranstaltung und haben nach einem besonderen Geschenk gesucht. Wir fanden die Perlenfaser! Das passte doch wie die Faust aufs Auge:-)

Die Perlenfaser wird aus Perlmuttpartikeln, die bei der Zelluloseherstellung eingeschossen werden, produziert. Perlmuttpartikel werden ja für vieles genutzt, auch in vielen Kosmetikartikeln. Perlmutt sorgt immer für einen sanften Schimmer. Wie bei den Cremes und Lidschatten nun auch bei unserem Garn. Perlmutt pflegt die Haut - und somit unsere Hände gleich beim Stricken. Und eine der besten Eigenschaften ist der Schutz vor ultravioletter Strahlung - perfekt für ein Sommergarn, oder?

Um das feine Garn nicht zu kostbar zu machen, haben wir es mit 50% Tencel verzwirnt. Damit entsteht ein leicht fallendes, formstabiles Strickgarn, das eine wunderschöne klare Maschendefinition zeigt. Toll für jede Art von Muster, ob Loch oder Zopf oder einfach nur glatt rechts.  

Wir haben es nun in 2 Lauflängen produziert: einmal ganz fein als Cobweb Lace mit 875 Metern auf 100 GrammDa. Das verstrickt sich gut mit Nadelgrößen 2 mm bis 3,5 mm. Und dann das etwas "dickere" feine Fingering mit 575 Metern auf 100 Gramm. Das stricke ich mit Nadelgrößen von 3 - 4 mm. Aber auch doppelt genommen oder gemixt mit dünnem Merinofaden ist das Strickgarn der Hit.

Yes, that's indeed Pearl. I'm sure you've heard of it or seen our designs with it. One of my many favorite yarns. Vegan, unique, available worldwide only from us and our partners.

But how did we get it? Where did it come from, the Pearl? 

The idea was born 10 years ago. Vogue Knitting, the Kult knitting journal and our marketing partner in the US, and in my opinion one of the coolest knitting magazines in the world, had its Pearl anniversary. When is that? 30 years after founding (or wedding:-).... We were a Diamond Sponsor at the New York anniversary knitting convention and were looking for a special gift. We found the pearl fiber! It fit like a glove:-)

Pearl fiber is produced from nano particles that are shot into the material during cellulose production. Nano particles are used for many things, including cosmetic products. Mother-of-pearl always provides a soft shimmer. As with the creams and eye shadows now also with our yarn. Mother-of-pearl nourishes the skin - and thus our hands right when we knit. And one of the best properties is the protection against ultraviolet radiation - perfect for a summer yarn, right? 

To keep the fine yarn from being too precious, we've twisted it with 50% Tencel. This creates an easy falling knitting yarn that keeps its shape and shows a beautiful clear stitch definition. Great for any kind of pattern, whether lace or cable or just plain stockinette. 

We have produced it in 2 yarn weights: once very fine as Cobweb Lace with 875 meters per 100 gramm. This knits well with needle sizes 2 mm to 3.5 mm. And then the somewhat "thicker" fine Fingering with 575 meters per 100 grams. I knit this with needle sizes of 3 - 4 mm. But also taken double or mixed with thin merino yarn is the knitting yarn a hit.
